Puataunofo Health & Safety Workshops

The first of a series of 5 workshops in Auckland over the next 5 months will be run to reinforce and raise awareness of workplace health and safety messages to ensure that when workers leave for work in the morning or evening they “Come Home Safely” to their families.

The project is aimed at:
• Reinforcing the importance of employers providing and maintaining a safe working environment.
• Informing and supporting both employers and employees in their roles in injury prevention.
• All Pacific workers with a focus on our young Pacific workforce.

The Puataunofo Steering Group is a collaboration made up of agencies and NGO’s including the Department of Labour (DoL), Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs (MPIA). Engineering Printing and Manufacturing Union (NZEPMU), Council of Trades Unions Komiti Pasefika (CTUKP), Manukau City Council (MCC), Injury Prevention Aotearoa Nz(IPNANZ), Pasefika Injury Prevention Aukilana(PIPA) and Lavea’I Trust Inc.

The workshops will be held at the Department of Labour, 12 Lambie Drive, Manukau City from 9am to 4.30pm on the day and dates below with the various unions being responsible for attendance.

Thursday 24 June - All CTU affiliates

Puataunofo Breakfast
The Puataunofo breakfast will be held on Friday 19 March at the Greyhound Rooms, Manukau Sports Bowl, Manukau City from 7am to 9.30am.  Komitis of all unions, delegates, Health and Safety representatives, stakeholders and some business people will be attending this event.

Pasefika (Auckland 13th March) and Creekfest (Wellington 21 March)

Planning is underway for the Pacific festivals in both Auckland and Wellington.  Komiti Pasefika will hold stalls at both events.
