Union Organiser - Auckland

Finsec, the Finance Sector Union has a vacancy for a full time organiser in our Auckland regional office.

The role has responsibility for the recruitment of new members, developing, implementing and reviewing organising plans, supporting and training union activists,  undertaking activities and actions that support the Union’s industry and enterprise objectives and campaigns and the direct representation of members.

We are looking for a person who has a high level of people skills, a commitment to social justice, and is experienced in work place rights, campaigning and employment issues.

The position reports to the Lead Organiser and will require some work outside normal business hours and out of town travel.

Field Officer
Permanent Part-time (0.6FTSE) Position – Central Region; based in Wellington
NZEI Te Riu Roa represents the professional and industrial interests of teachers in early childhood education, in primary and area schools, of staff in special education, in school support services and support staff in primary and secondary schools.
The Field Officer position involves membership recruitment and organisation, enforcement of agreement provisions, education/training of members, advocacy and negotiation.
We are looking for an energetic organiser and skilled negotiator who has a strong commitment to public education, to the role of unions in a democratic society and to the application of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Experience in industrial issues, effective teamwork and capable management of work programmes and budgets are essential qualities.
The successful applicant will have an awareness of the impact of economic, social and political issues in education and will be a highly affective communicator.  A driver’s licence is essential for the position.

We are an effective, modern trade union representing the employment interests of New Zealand Cabin Crew across 8 different Airlines .

We are looking to appoint a second Industrial Officer to our team in Auckland. This position would suit someone who has experience, either as a union organiser or as a senior delegate.  The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the goals of a modern employment association with a good understanding of workplace legislation. You must have outstanding communication skills - both verbal and written, be an effective negotiator, have good advocacy skills, work well in a small team environment and at times be prepared to work flexible hours. Competence with PC word processor and familiarity with the aviation industry is an advantage.
