The ACC Futures Coalition has formed in response to recent signals from the government about the possible privatization of various ACC accounts and opening of these to competition from private insurers. Government announcements in early 2009 have also raised fears of a wholesale assault on entitlements and raised fears about their commitment to the Woodhouse principles that underpin the scheme.

Our aim:
To build cross-party support for retaining the status of ACC as a publicly-owned single provider committed to the ‘Woodhouse Principles’, with a view to maintaining and improving the provision of injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and ‘no fault’ compensation social insurance system for all New Zealanders.

We are launching the coalition over a light breakfast at the Loaves and Fishes dining hall at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Wellington. This invitation is extended to representatives of organizations participating in the coalition and their supporters.
