Low pay is a problem for workers throughout the public sector. These workers provide services the whole country relies on. They work in our hospitals, in our schools, in community services and in government departments. They deliver services New Zealanders use every day and often take for granted.
Yet many are paid only marginally above the minimum wage. Despite being underpaid for the essential work they do, the Government has frozen their pay. This is unfair and unacceptable.
The Government must lift the pay freeze and ensure these workers are fairly paid for the vital work they do.
They are asking for your support in their campaign for fair pay.
Low paid public sector workers include:• School support staff
• Hospital cleaners, food service staff, orderlies
• Hospital administrative staff
• Ministry of Justice workers
• Parliamentary security officers
• Workers supporting the elderly and disabled
