Lyttelton Port Negotiations Completed
After over two years negotiations, the Lyttelton Port Company and the combined unions have ratified terms of an agreement to cover work in the port. As the proposed settlement involved considerable change to the existing collective employment contract, the ratification is subject to the extensive wording changes being agreed.
The Lytteton Port Company and combined unions will work on this immediately.
"The workforce at Lyttelton have always been prepared to accept change but needed to ensure that their concerns were also met," said combined unions advocate and Council of Trade Unions secretary Paul Goulter.
"Those concerns were principally over certainty of times of work and the ability to ensure continued permanent full time employment at the port."
