'Back to 1990s with National,' CTU President warns Rail Workers

Council of Trade Unions President Ross Wilson and Greens Party MP Sue Bradford will share a barbeque lunch with members of the Rail and Maritime Union between noon and 1pm today at the Alstom Hutt workshop in Moera."We have worked with the Greens for six years on legislation which has benefited working people and I look forward to continuing that work with a Labour- Progressive, Green coalition," Ross Wilson said.

"Workers don't want to return to the cowboy industrial relations regime ushered in by National's Ruth Richardson in the 1990s," he said. "They don't want to lose their fairer employment laws, overtime on public holidays, four weeks annual leave, increases in the minimum wage and stronger health and safety laws."

"In particular they don't want to lose the CTU/ACC health and safety representatives system which has seen a 60% fall in the number of workplace accidents. National's promise to stop this would certainly see a rise in the number of dead and injured workers."
