CTU acknowledges Buwalda's work at Department of Labour

“James Buwalda has re-shaped the Department to address the real labour market issues of the 21st century”  CTU president Ross Wilson said today.

James Buwalda announced his resignation as Chief Executive of the Department of Labour today.

“Dr Buwalda has been Chief Executive when the Department has been at the forefront of Government initiatives across a wide range of labour market issues.” he said.

“His commitment to engagement with Business NZ and the CTU has brought a partnership approach to addressing the workforce development and other critical challenges we face as a nation.” Ross Wilson said. “This has positioned the Department well to work with business and labour to meet those challenges.”

“Dr Buwalda has made a huge contribution in a short period of time.”
