Literacy Skills Essential To Economic Transformation
“Increasing workers’ skills is at the heart of economic transformation and the CTU is pleased to be working with others on a national plan to lift workplace literacy,” CTU president Ross Wilson said today.
The CTU joined Workbase, Business New Zealand the Industry Training Federation in launching 'The Key Steps Forward for Workforce Literacy' at Parliament tonight.
“To build a high wage, high skill economy workers need to be supported to access skill development and training in literacy and numeracy.”
“Improving literacy at work is also critical in lifting New Zealand’s productivity.”
“We are pleased to be working with Workbase who have an exceptional record of work in this area. We will continue our support of the four key proposals outlined in 'The Key Steps Forward for Workforce Literacy', as well as encouraging workplace learning through our own Learning Reps programme.”
