Ryall’s Proposal Recipe For Complete Chaos In Health Sector

“Tony Ryall’s proposal to insist that health workers negotiate directly with their employer is a recipe for complete chaos in the health sector,” CTU president Ross Wilson said.

Mr Ryall told Radio NZ this morning that National believes health sector workers should be negotiating with their employers directly on employment agreements.

“Health is a highly unionised sector and staff prefer to negotiate collectively as a union, as is their right,” Ross Wilson said.

“To introduce the right for employers to remove that choice and insist that an employee negotiates direct is a return to the bitterness of the Employment Contracts Act.”

“Mr Ryall should also answer the question he avoided – does he support pay parity for the health workers in the current dispute,” Ross Wilson said.
