NZCTU Submission on the Regulatory Standards Bill - August 2011

Printer-friendly version

The CTU is entirely opposed to the Regulatory Standards Bill. It is ill-conceived, impractical and ideologically biased. It reflects a marginal neoliberal view that seeks to promote personal wealth aggregation over all other policy objectives.

While we do not object to improving our legislation and regulations, this Bill goes far beyond what is required for fair and efficient law making. Indeed its effect is to inhibit government from contemplating legislation, regulation and administrative actions even when they are in the public interest.
