“It is clear that the Reserve Bank’s attempts to cool the housing market by putting up interest rates is worsening the exchange rate and hurting exporters, and the CTU is encouraging the Finance and Expenditure select committee to look at a more appropriate approach to monetary policy,” CTU president Ross Wilson said.

The Council of Trade Unions is welcoming a pre-budget policy announcement today of additional funding for the tertiary education sector.

Advocacy Service Goes Nationwide

"Most of the 2,000 plus collective employment agreements were settled last year without the need for industrial action," CTU president Ross Wilson said today.

The CTU Komiti Pasefika said today that any easing of Easter trading restrictions would have a negative impact on the ability of Pacific families to take part in worship, family and community activities.
