The Status of Women - NGO CEDAW Report, a collaborative effort involving over 100 New Zealand womens organisations, including groups representing migrant women, was formally launched by the National Council of Women of New Zealand (NCWNZ) National President, Beryl Anderson at a function in Parliament.

Unions campaigned strongly for the introduction of paid parental leave (PPL). The PPL scheme introduced by the Labour / Alliance Government will provide 12 weeks payment up to a maximum of $325 per week.
