Entries for the 2012 awards are now open!

Now is a good time to start thinking about the innovative and successful health and safety initiatives your organisation has carried out in the last 12 months and the people behind them.

Proudly supported by the Department of Labour, the New Zealand Workplace Health & Safety Awards recognises businesses, both large and small and individuals, who champion safety.

The awards acknowledge people and teams who demonstrate commitment and achievement in improving health and safety in the workplace. They give national recognition to good ideas, superior systems, great initiatives and hard-working people who have made a difference.

Previous award winners have discovered that winning an award can:

• Motivate and raise awareness of health and safety within your organisation
• Gain recognition from your customers, suppliers, shareholders and peers
• Provide a benchmark for your health and safety performance and set an agenda for continuous improvement

The 2012 awards are for initiatives which took place primarily in 2011, but which may have commenced up to a year earlier. The closing date for entries is 16 April 2012.

NZ Safety best initiative to encourage engagement in health and safety

Category 5 - DESIGN
SICK best use of design to eliminate or isolate a hazard

Category 6 – SMALL BUSINESS
Site Safe best health and safety initiative by a small business

Category 7 – LARGE ORGANISATION
Impac best significant health and safety initiative by a large organisation

Category 8 – LEADERSHIP
ACC best leadership of an industry sector or region

Category 9 – PRACTITIONER
Safeguard health and safety practitioner of the year

Category 10 – EMPLOYEE
Ross Wilson – NZCTU most influential employee
