1.1 General
1.1.1 The NZCTU defends the right to work of all New Zealanders irrespective of age, sex, religion, political belief, race, sexual orientation, marital or parental status, or disability.

5. STATE SERVICES STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION
5.1 The State Sector
5.1.1 The NZCTU believes that a strong and effective state sector, motivated by the goal of service to the community, is both desirable and necessary, and that the achievement of such a state sector is a goal which all trade unionists and socially concerned individuals should seek to attain.

6. SOCIAL POLICY
6.1 General
6.1.1 The NZCTU recognises the importance of an adequate social wage to the living standards of working people and supports a comprehensive system of social welfare benefits and services which ensures all workers can participate in the community.

10. POLITICAL ISSUES AND CIVIL RIGHTS
10.1 Electoral
10.1.1 The CTU opposes an electoral system which allows a minority vote party to hold power and supports the principle of proportional representation being introduced into our electoral system to ensure that Parliament is fully representative.

UNION AFFAIRS
3.1 General
3.1.1 The CTU asserts the right of unions to democratically organise and recognises the necessity for democratic organisation within the trade union movement to give genuine expression to rank and file feeling.

7. DISCRIMINATION
7.1 General
7.1.1 The NZCTU states that there should be no discrimination in opportunities or remuneration on the grounds of sex, race, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability or political belief.
