Then NZEI Te Riu Roa is looking for you!

NZEI Te Riu Roa is the organisation representing 51,000 primary and early childhood teachers, specialist education staff and school support staff.  It is committed to high quality public education and to the application of the Treaty of Waitangi.

As an Organising Support Officer you would provide administrative support for NZEI’s national office teams.  You would be part of a team of staff responsible for developing and implementing NZEI’s plans and campaigns at a national level. 

Your duties would include:

• Assisting information flow by utilising a full range of software, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Contributing to the development and the monitoring of team budgets
• Assisting with the development and the implementation of plans and activities
• Undertaking basic information gathering and research activities
• Assisting with the development, distribution and collation of surveys
• Creating and maintaining databases and spreadsheets, and generating information and reports as required
• Preparing multi-media presentations
• Utilising and maintaining a range of equipment and resources including: email, facsimile, photocopying, audio/videoconferencing and data projector machines
• Communicating with NZEI members, staff and outside organisations


You need to have:

• A basic understanding of  budgets
• A high level of proficiency in word processing, formatting and multimedia presentation skills
• A high standard of accurate written and oral skills including the ability to write summaries of meetings and record agreed actions
• An ability to manage work, make appropriate decisions about priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines
• An ability to work flexibly in a team situation to ensure an effective and a collaborative working environment
• A willingness to learn and develop in the position
• An interest in education, unionism and equal employment opportunity (EEO) issues
• A sense of humour

The Organising Support Officer would be directly responsible to the Lead Organiser.

The position is based in the National Office of NZEI Te Riu Roa, level 11 Education House, 178 Willis Street, Wellington
