PSA - IT HELP DESK ASSISTANT

In this role you’ll be the first point of contact when staff need assistance, so you need to be prepared to find solutions to their IT problems and provide good quality practical advice quickly. You’ll need excellent people and communication skills, and you will know how to ask the right questions. You will also be able to translate your technical knowledge for non-specialists. You’ll have lots of initiative, be flexible and able to think on your feet, and you’ll have great teamwork skills and a good sense of humour. You’ll have a real interest in how technology is developing and how it can be applied to business processes.
This role includes:
- First level user support for laptops, mobile phones, VoIP desktop phones and Video Equipment etc.
- User support for our main membership server and associated applications.
- Server maintenance and backups.
- Website maintenance and updating.
- Networking support
- User support of Office 2010
- User support SharePoint 2010
Your IT technical knowledge should preferably include qualifications in:
- Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Server 2008, Microsoft Office 2010
- Server/PC/laptop hardware basics
- IP Networking including wireless/3G networking
It would also be beneficial if you can demonstrate your interest and knowledge in:
- Mobile phone technology
- Technology and new devices eg. iPad, Android etc.
- Fault-finding – hardware/software
- Video Conferencing
- Software packages and their interaction
We are in the process of developing and rewriting older internally written SQL applications from asp classic and VB to C# and .net. The ability to learn, write and fault-find these applications would be beneficial.
