We have an exciting opportunity to lead an organising team in New Zealand’s largest education union. NZEI Te Riu Roa is a union committed to operating in accordance with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Do you have significant experience in union organising and member recruitment?  Can you develop and lead strategies resulting in significant growth in membership?  Are you comfortable with creating and implementing organising strategies to meet campaign goals? Do you have the skills to lead a high performing team?

This work will involve a mix of team leadership, strategy, data analysis and effective union organising.

As part of our national Lead Organisers’ team, you would be expected to contribute organising strategies and tactics to all aspects of our work.

This work will involve working extensively with membership groups in developing member leadership and growth outcomes.

This role has a significant leadership and mentoring function. It also involves on the ground union organising in each of the membership sectors covered by the Union.

This position is based in the NZEI Te Riu Roa Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) Office.

An understanding of, and commitment to upholding the principles of, Te Tiriti o Waitangi is essential, and experience/skill in te reo and tikanga Māori are desirable.
