He kaitohutohu, kaiarataki Te Pou Tuarā hei hakatuarā i ngā take me ngā kaupapa o TEU me ōna huanga katoa, Māori mai, Iwi kē mai, te rite ki ngā ture me ngā kaupapa here o te uniana, ā, mā roto anō i ngā kawenga o TEU ki Te Tiriti o Waitangi me ngā whāinga o Te Koeke Tiriti.

Ka hakawhanaketia mai me te pupuri tonutia e Te Pou Tuarā, he whanaungatanga angitu me ngā peka, ngā huanga, ngā rangatira me ngā kaiārahi tōrangapū, ā, ka mahi tahi me ngā kaimahi o TEU me ngā Māori, ā Iwi kē mai, me ngā huanga katoa, kāinga mai, ki te motu whānui.

1.He mātau ki te kōrero me te tuhi i Te Reo Māorime ngā tikanga;

Te Hautū Kahurangi | Tertiary Education Union (TEU) is looking for a new Te Pou Tuarā. We are an activist led, organising and campaigning union working across all parts of the tertiary education sector. We are looking for a person to fill this exciting and challenging role.

Te Pou Tuarā will advise, lead, and promote the interests and aspirations of TEU members, Māori and all others, in accordance with the rules and policies of the union; and through TEU’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the whāinga of Te Koeke Tiriti.

Te Pou Tuarā will develop and maintain constructive relationships with branches, members, employers, and political leaders; and will work collaboratively with other TEU staff and with Māori and all other members at both the local and national levels.

The appointee will be expected to have:
1.High level of competence in Te Reo Māori mengā tikanga;
2.Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and thewhāinga of Te Koeke Tiriti;
3.Highly developed communication skills (bothwritten and oral, in Te Reo Māori andEnglish);
4.Sound interpersonal skills; and
5.Awareness of cultural, economic, social, andpolitical issues, particularly as they impact oneducation, Māori, and policy development in general.
