The NZ Dairy Workers Union – Te Runanga Wai U (DWU) is a strong, well-resourced, and established Trade Union representing over 8,500 workers in the Aotearoa New Zealand dairy processing industry. We have high levels of membership in some of the largest businesses in the dairy sector and provide a range of services to our members from employment advice and advocacy through to individual welfare and benefit programmes.

The DWU has a vacancy for a full-time organiser position responsible for organising and representing members employed within the Central Waikato region including sites in Hamilton and the surrounding Waikato region. The position is based in our National Office in Hamilton but applications from candidates who reside outside Hamilton, or outside the wider Waikato region will be considered.

The successful applicant will need to have an excellent understanding of industrial and employment matters, outstanding negotiation and interpersonal skills and an understanding and affinity with the trade union movement and union members. Previous trade union organising, or campaigning experience or first-hand knowledge of the dairy industry would be an advantage. Travel within the wider Waikato region, as well as outside the region for union-related matters, will be required of the successful applicant.
