The purpose of this role is to negotiate complex and/or strategic collective agreements and to assist in the resolution of complex industrial matters as determined by the plan.
- Responsible for upholding the Union’s vision, values, plans and culture.
- Responsible for strategic and industrial advice and mentoring on bargaining matters to the team.
- Responsible for negotiating on behalf of members in line with the Union’s strategy, goals and bargaining standards.
- Supports the development of industry strategies.
- Responsible for effective communication with members and stakeholders.
- Responsible for provision of advice to the Team Leader on critical recurring issues.
- Responsible for the maintenance of effective bargaining records and evidence of meeting Union bargaining standards in the allocated areas.

Ability to manage bargaining notes, reporting requirements and deadlines
Ability to empower and develop others in bargaining techniques through coaching and mentoring.
Ability to interpret employment agreements and legislation.
Ability to bargain in conjunction with growth and organizing strategies and plans.
Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Strong communication skills using a variety of methods and with individuals and groups of people.
Strong commitment to union values, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and social justice.
Computer skills.
Current driver’s license
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience in complex collective bargaining.

- High level understanding of employment relations legislation
