New Easter trading laws bad for families

“Today the National Government voted to make regional authorities responsible for deciding whether people get to spend time with the families on Easter Sunday or not. This was a bad decision by the National Government,” CTU Secretary Sam Huggard said.

“Kiwis love spending time with their friends and whanau and in reality there are now only three and a half days a year which are protected for doing just that.”

“We hope that regional authorities will be better able to listen to the voices of working people and do the right thing, the fair thing, and protect Easter Sunday,” Huggard said.
