Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (STONZ)

We are a non-for-profit union supporting junior doctors in Aotearoa. The aim of STONZ is to help facilitate the training of resident medical officers (RMOs), and to protect their training. Since STONZ formed in 2018 we have experienced strong business growth, and now represent a large proportion of all RMOs across the motu. To support our membership and accounts functions we are looking for someone who takes pride in a job well done and can execute their work with a sense of energy and professionalism.

This is an exciting opportunity to make the role your own and be responsible for the management of our membership database and accounts receivable and payable processes.

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

In this role you will often be the first point of contact for our members, so excellent customer service is paramount. This role will also take responsibility for the accounts payable and receivable functions for the organisation, so accuracy and attention to detail is key.

Key responsibilities will include:
▪Connection & communication with Members
▪ Handle membership enquiries in a friendly and professional manner
▪ Accounts Payable – process invoices, payments and expense claims
▪ Bank Reconciliations
▪ Accounts Receivable – membership invoicing and management
▪ GST returns
▪ Month end accounts
▪ Maintain and manage accuracy of our membership database
▪ Opportunity to review processes for improvements
▪ Assist the STONZ Support Team with other administration duties and projects.

Ō pūmanawa – About you

This flexible part-time role is suited to an adaptable individual that is effective at prioritising workloads and dealing with multiple demands on time, while possessing a strong customer-focus with some flexibility to adjust working hours at peak times of the year.

To be successful in this role you will have:
▪ Previous experience in an Accounts/Administration position
▪ Previous experience with Xero
▪ Proficient with Microsoft Excel
▪ Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
▪ Easy going and a strong team player – professional & trustworthy
▪ Ability to work autonomously, taking ownership of tasks and deadlines
▪ Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your workload
▪ Attention to detail and the commitment to quality and accuracy of work
▪RMO (Resident Medical Officer) or Te Whatu Ora/Health NZ/District Health Board experience (preferred but not essential)
▪Experience with Friendly Manager an advantage, but not essential
▪Willingness to learn and ask questions when needed
