The Tertiary Education Union (TEU) is looking for a new Te Pou Whirinaki. We are an activist led, organising and campaigning union working across all parts of the tertiary education sector. We are looking for a person to fill this exciting and challenging role.
The TEU’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, embedded in our constitution and goals, will be instrumental throughout the roles and responsibilities of the Women’s and Equity Lead role.
We are seeking a candidate with the skills to support the work of the National Women’s Committee, and to advance pay equity and pay parity for women dominated workforces, and beyond.
We are an education union committed to employment equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a similar commitment will be expected from the appointee. The successful applicant will have considerable experience in the union movement and, ideally, a tertiary qualification, experience in the employment relations field and knowledge of and competence in te reo Māori me ngā tikanga. However experienced candidates who don’t meet all these criteria should still apply.
The position reports to Te Pou Ahurei Takirua – Ahumahi | Assistant National Secretary – Industrial of the union.
