Every New Zealander deserves a workplace that puts safety and wellbeing first. Too often, we’ve seen the real cost of a system that doesn’t fully protect workers. Lives are lost, families grieving, and communities bearing the burden of preventable tragedies.
That’s why, alongside Business New Zealand, the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management, the Health and Safety Association of New Zealand and the Business Leaders’ Safety Forum, we’ve called on Minister van Velden to take decisive action to strengthen New Zealand’s health and safety framework.
Our message is clear: real change starts with strong, coordinated leadership, a better-resourced WorkSafe, and clear, updated regulations that every business and worker can rely on.
Together, we’re fighting for a system where every worker goes home safe, and we urge the Minister to start doing the same.
