Join us for the 2026 Out at Work conference, Rainbow Voices
The CTU Out at Work network was established in 2000 as the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions’ network for union members who identify as lesbian, gay, takatāpui, bisexual, intersex, transgender, fa’afafine, and MVPFAFF+ communities, including Pacific gender-diverse identities such as Māhū, Vakasalewalewa, Palopa, Akava’ine, and Fakaleitī. We advocate for workplaces grounded in union-led rights to dignity, diversity, and inclusion for every worker.
The Out at Work Council is a constitutional body of the NZCTU and meets four times a year, either by video conference or by a face to face meeting in Wellington. It comprises formal representatives from affiliated unions. Any interested union members and/or delegates are welcome to attend.
Each affiliated union to the NZCTU can appoint a representative to the Out at Work Council. Each union is responsible for its own selection process and they then notify the Council of their representative. Nominations are for a two-year period and usually occur after the Bi-ennial Out at Work Hui/ Kamp. Our Biennial Hui Kamp helps set the workplan for the two-years until the next Hui/ Kamp.
We also have a presence on Facebook.
