On November 19 2010, almost 6 years ago, 29 men were killed at Pike River Mine. Their deaths were completely preventable and no person or organisation has ever been held responsible. There has been no justice for the 29 men who remain in the mine.
“There are so many unanswered questions which remain. There is so much more that the Government and its agencies could and should be doing to give answers not just to the families of the 29, but to all New Zealanders as well,” said CTU President Richard Wagstaff.
“We support the families in their demand for answers. These men should all have returned home from work that day, that was what their families expected and that is what all working people should expect, every day in every type of work,” Wagstaff said.
