FIRST Union members at Woolworths worksites around the country are taking strike action today, in a fight for better pay and conditions. Mill workers at Winstone Pulp are awaiting a decision on the future of the mill and whether they will still have jobs. The Treaty Principles Bill remains high on the agenda, with cabinet making changes that would include reference to hapū and iwi, however this won’t mean the PM will support it beyond first reading. In other political news, a patient has died in an ED waiting room in Rotorua. In economic news, house prices continue to drop.
