Equity New Zealand is the union of Aotearoa’s professional performers. We represent actors across screen and stage, opera singers, dancers, stunt performers, comedians, live performance artists, extras, students, young performers, dancer, voice artists and more.
We are run by performers, for performers, and we are an organisation solely dedicated to making performers’ working lives better.
We advocate on fair pay rates and contracts, casting practices, safety, and government policy and regulation. We also bargain collectively on behalf of performers under the Employment Relations Act and soon, the Screen Industry Workers Act.
Members get free legal support, free professional development workshops, discounts on film and theatre tickets, and regular events connecting performers across the motu.
We are affiliated with Australia’s Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) and, internationally, with the International Federation of Actors (FIA).
Ki te kotahi te kākaho ka whati, ki te kāpuia e kore e whati.
When a single reed stands alone, it is vulnerable; but when tied together, they are unbreakable.
