The Aviation and Marine Engineers Association (AMEA) is seeking a National Industrial Organiser to join its Auckland based team.
The AMEA is a mid-sized union representing members throughout New Zealand primarily in the aviation, maritime and primary sectors.
We are seeking a motivated self-starter, who can work independently and be part of a small close-knit team. Having a trade/engineering background and/or experience as a union organiser is required.
This role will primarily represent our Marine and Industrial engineers. It involves negotiating and interpreting employment agreements, advocating for workers’ rights, as well as recruiting and organising workers. Success in this role requires familiarity with employment legislation and the ability to build effective working relationships with members and employers.
A full driver’s licence, New Zealand residency and fluency in both written and spoken English are essential. The role also requires some overnight travel.
AMEA is affiliated with the NZCTU, and is not affiliated with any political parties.
