Tōpūtanga Tapuhi Kaitiaki o Aotearoa: The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) is the lead professional union for nurses. Our job and responsibility is to represent more than 60,000 nurses, midwives, students, kaimahi hauora, and health workers in Aotearoa/ New Zealand. We represent the interests of nurses on professional and employment related matters. NZNO embraces Te Tiriti o Waitangi and works to improve the health status of all people of Aotearoa/New Zealand through participation in health and social policy development.
NZNO is looking for an Industrial Advisor to provide specialist advocacy, support and strategic advice that advances NZNO’s pay equity goals.
We are looking for someone with experience and demonstrated success in raising pay equity claims.
The role is part of our industrial team and will also work closely with the organising team on tactics and sector strategies.
The successful candidate will have the following –
- A comprehensive understanding of the Equal Pay Act 1972 and it’s amendments and the Employment Relations Act 2000
- Commitment to honouring te Tiriti o Waitangi and experience implementing uniquely Māori approaches to pay equity claims
- Strong union values
- Strong planning skills and the ability to influence
- Campaign design and implementation experience
- Political astuteness both internally and externally
- The ability to lead and support advocacy on pay equity claims
