About the role:
We are looking for an experienced leader who can coach a small team that is the first point of contact for union members. In a fast-paced environment, you and the team will inform and empower union members with accurate and timely advice to resolve individual and collective workplace issues. These can be complex questions involving rates of pay, industrial legislation and union approaches to workplace settings.
You will use your leadership skills, judgement, communication skills and knowledge of contact centre operations to inspire and motivate your team to instil members with confidence. You will participate in planning with the campaign team to ensure the end-use perspective is captured and to ensure your team is ready for workflow peaks, such as bargaining collective agreements
Skills and experience:
Your work is grounded in union values, a commitment to Te Tiriti and the building of workers’ power. We value experience in a union or movement-related campaign role as well as:
- A focus on continual improvement
- Experience in working in a fast-paced, operational environment
- Comfort analysing and explaining technical information
- Developing teams

NZEI Te Riu Roa is a Te Tiriti based organising and campaigning union of members who work together locally and nationally to achieve the best possible education system for tamariki and the people who work in it.
