STONZ is looking for a confident and experienced Advisor to support and advocate for Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) across Aotearoa New Zealand. This is a rewarding opportunity to influence workforce conditions, support doctors through complex employment matters, and work at a national level with Te Whatu Ora | Health NZ and locally with Districts.
About the role
You will be the go-to advisor for RMOs, providing expert guidance on employment matters, resolving issues, and supporting negotiations and change processes. You will work closely with the Executive Director and support team to deliver positive outcomes for members and strengthen sector relationships.
Christchurch location + hybrid office / WFH | Full-time (37.5 hours/week) or Part-time (hours negotiable) for the right person.
Key responsibilities
▪ Provide advice to RMOs on employment matters and the STONZ SECA
▪ Respond to member queries via phone and email
▪ Support dispute resolution and mediation processes
▪ Assist with collective bargaining and negotiations
▪ Monitor run reviews and change proposals nationwide
▪ Build relationships with stakeholders including Te Whatu Ora
▪ Support health, safety and well-being initiatives
▪ Contribute to projects and policy development
What you will bring
▪Experience in employment relations, HR, unions, or advocacy
▪Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
▪Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
▪Strong organisational and analytical abilities
▪Understanding of NZ employment law and collective agreements (desirable)
